HISTORY

WCC's evolution is both a tribute and inspiration to its leaders, personnel, alumni, students, and friends who continue to contribute in achieving the school's mission of moving the Filipinos toward global reach.

September 1969. Holy Trinity School is a long-established institution in basic education aspiring to venture in tertiary education. It was founded by Mrs. Virginia Datiles Vda. de Lizardo in 1969. The school was “orphaned” when President Datiles died in 1995. The Board of Directors turned over the management and ownership of the school to the Guico family in 1997 and since then, it has grown by leaps and bounds under the leadership of President Ramon V. Guico III.

June 15, 1971. The Securities and Exchange Commission issued a Certificate of Incorporation to the Medical Center for Quezon City (MCQC). In the same year, the Bureau of Medical Service of the Department of Health issued a permit to the center to operate as a 50-bed capacity hospital.

1978. The liberal arts program in Psychology was offered. The course will later comprise one of the three programs in the College of Arts and Sciences.

June 1979. MCQC changed its corporate name to Quezon City Medical Center and

Colleges, Inc. (QCMCC). The School of Nursing was established as QCMCC's first college offering the General Nursing program – a two-year preparatory nursing course.

March 1986. The Guico family acquired ownership and management of the QCMCC.

1987. The College of Radiologic Technology (CRT) was founded. A four-year degree leading to the Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology was offered.

1993. The College of Rehabilitation Science (CRS), College of Pharmacy (CP) and the College of Medical Technology were established.

1994 . The hospital was reconstructed into a 276 bed tertiary medical center.

April 1997. Richard Danao, Midwifery '97, topped the PRC Licensure Examination for Midwifery given in the same year.

1995-1997. QCMCC “adopted” Holy Trinity School (HTS) in Caloocan City . The HTS Board of Directors turned over management and ownership to the Guico family in 1997. HTS will later become the WCC Caloocan campus.

June 17, 2000. The Westminster College of the Philippines was established.

The institution offers baccalaureate degrees in Business Administration, Accountancy, Elementary and Secondary Education, Criminology and Nursing. Under the supervision of the WCC education system, the college aims to develop young people who will become the country's leaders in the future.

2000 . The College of Criminology and College of Education were created in Westminster College .

2001 . QCMCC changed its name to World Citi Inc. The hospital division was renamed to World Citi Medical Center and the school to World Citi Colleges.

July 2001. World Citi Inc. (hospital and school divisions) acquired the ISO 9001:2000 Certification.

June 2001. BS Hotel and Restaurant Management was offered under the College of Arts and Sciences.

December 2001. World Citi Inc. celebrated its 30 years of corporate founding.

June 2002 . Easton International Center for Management Studies (Easton ICMS) was founded in Ortigas Center , Pasig City .

February 2002 . Abigail Ang, BSPT ‘02 placed ninth in the Licensure Examination for Physical Therapist given by the Professional Regulations Commission.

June 2003. The Vikings, WCC's pilot basketball varsity was launched. In their fresh entry in the National Athletic Association of Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) the Vikings powered in the final four with WCC players in the Mythical Five.

October 2003. WCC signed a memorandum of agreement with Darwin Education Group of Singapore which signaled the design and implementation of the foreign student service.

November – December 2004. The Vikings surprised the school members in the pilot entry in the 10 th season of the Colleges and Universities Sports Association (CUSA) with their stunning 2 nd runner up finish in the prime league.

June – July 2004. WCC entered into agreements with Yulin Health School , Yulin College , Xi-an Health School, Shaanxi Health Institute, Wuhan Nursing School , and Hainan Medical College in China for joint education programs.

August 2004. WCC inked partnership with Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila to form the WCC PLM Institute for Continuing and Graduate Studies (ICGS). The Master of Arts in Nursing (MAN) was as the institute's first graduate program.

June 2005. The Department of Hotel and Restaurant Management under the College of Arts and Sciences was instituted as the School of International Hospitality Management with the BS Hotel and Restaurant Management as its first academic program.

May 2005. The WCC-Masters Flying School Center for Aviation Training and Studies (CATS) was launched with main and satellite offices in WCC Caloocan, Pasay , and Bulacan.

July 2005. Ten Chinese students composed the first batch of group foreign enrollees. They were enrolled at WCC Caloocan for the joint education program under the WCC-Darwin Education Group agreement.

July 2005. World Citi Medical Center was voted as the Most Outstanding Center for Wellness and Medical Hospitality in the Philippines by the Philippine Marketing Excellence Award.

November 2005. The plan for a bigger WCC Antipolo campus becomes more concrete through a ground-breaking ceremony held in the campus. An eight story building will soon rise in the 800 square meter property.

December 2005. World Citi Medical Center was awarded as the Oustanding Medical Center in the 2005 Global Excellence Award at the Ambassador Hotel in Shenzhen , China .

April 2006. WCC SIHM launched its international practicum program with 2000 Miles Placement Agency providing its students international paid training in Singapore .
